Zurich 26. Apr. 2009
The inauguration of the "Uetliberg"-tunnel was the special part of the 2009-Zurich-marathon. One day before it was opened to the traffic, the marathon course led through the narrowly 5 kilometer long tunnel turning back on the other side and heading - again through the tunnel - towards the city. A good idea to use this special opportunity for a one time marathon-experience.
The rest of the course was rather monotonous and little spectacular - 30 kilometers along the lake zurich down to "Meilen" and back.
Maybe the new track is more interesting (since there are at least a few kilometes through the city) but the atmosphere and the spirit aside the course are rather poor too - so I would say that the Zurich-marathon is not a number one choice.
